In addition to weekly music class for every grade level, St. Mary’s offers instrumental and chorus activities outside of regular class work.
The Edwardsville Catholic Schools Band (ESCB) is made up of 4th – 8th grade students from St. Mary’s and St. Boniface Schools. They practice in St. Mary’s music room after school one or two days per week, co-directed by Marsha Etzkorn from St. Mary’s and Susanna Arana from St. Boniface. The ECSB competes in the Madison County grade school music competition, performs in Christmas and Spring Concerts, and marches in parades in and around Edwardsville throughout the year. Band students receive weekly music lessons with their instrument during the school day in addition to rehearsals after school.
The Liturgical Chorus is open to 5th – 8th graders who are interested in learning and performing liturgical music for all-school masses. There are also opportunities to join the Children’s Choir that is open to all St. Mary’s youth and performs at various Sunday masses.
