Experiential learning is an important part of the educational environment of St. Mary’s School. All classes take educational field trips each school year. Younger grades visit the St. Louis Zoo, the Magic House, the Science Center, and other local attractions that offer educational programs for particular grade levels. Other classes relive the story of Tom Sawyer in Hannibal, MO; walk in the footsteps of Abraham Lincoln in Springfield, IL; get in touch with nature at the Nature Institute in Godfrey, IL; and even take walking tours of our own Edwardsville, IL!

The entire seventh grade class attends Space Camp in Huntsville, Alabama every year. The eighth graders come together for a wonderful learning, leadership, bonding retreat at YMCA Trout Lodge for a few days. Art classes visit the St. Louis Art Museum and the St. Louis Cathedral Basilica for customized tours; band students visit the St. Louis Symphony; and the chess club visits the St. Louis Chess Club and Museum. Nothing beats hands-on learning outside the classroom where students do more than just retain information — they make memories!

We are St. Mary’s – a school to believe in!
